    Starling Sessions (Oxford)

    What: We meet weekly to explore traditional music from around the world through the people of Oxford! Each week we invite a different member of the group to bring a song/tune to share with everyone. We work on arrangements and perform at community events every now and then.

    When: Thursday evenings, 7.30-9.30pm (during term time – see dates below)

    Where: Old Fire Station, George St, Oxford

  • Flotsam Sessions (London)

    What: Open song learning workshop and jam session, showcasing music from all around the globe. Free entrance and no previous experience needed.


    When: Every first Tuesday of the month, 7 pm - 10 pm

    Where: Catford Mews, 32 Winslade Way, London SE6 4JU

Is there an age limit to participation?

We welcome all ages – young people under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult, and those over the age of 14 are welcome with parental permission.

I’ve only recently settled in the UK and wasn’t able to bring an instrument with me. Can you help?

Yes, just get in touch and we’ll do our best to help find you an instrument to borrow so you can join in.

I need support with travel costs to attend, can you help?

Yes, we can support with travel costs if this would be a barrier for you. Just get in touch

Do I have to perform?

No, if performing isn’t for you there’s no pressure to join any of our concerts.

I’m very rusty/haven’t played in a band before/don’t play an instrument but love to sing. Do I need to be an expert musician to join?

We have musicians of all levels of experience playing with us. We do our best to support beginners and experts alike!

Do I have to come every week?

No, just come when you can – but with a new song to learn every week, you won’t want to miss one!

I’m not free on Thursday evenings, is there another way I can join in?

At the moment we don’t have any additional sessions running. Get in touch and let us know you’re interested and your availability, and we will see if we can run some sessions at times you can do! Also keep an eye out for extra events, gigs, and workshops!
